Siemens sees 19.4percent increase in new orders
For FY2016 ended September 30, 2016, Siemens Ltd. registered 19.4 per cent higher new orders at Rs 12,064.02 crore compared to Rs 10,107.49 crore in FY2015. Income from continuing operations grew by 11.4 per cent in Q4 2016 over the same quarter in the preceding year and by 6.7 per cent in FY2016 over FY2015 while maintaining stable profits.
Power tariff likely to go up in Andhra
The Andhra Pradesh state government is set to raise the cost of power in the state, with the utilities finalising revisions to the existing power tariff, upwards by at least 10 per cent. As per sources in the know, discoms will be presenting their revenue requirements for the next financial year (2017-18) and earnings statement to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu by the end of November.

Govt hikes excise duty on petrol, diesel
The Government today increased excise duty on petrol by Rs.0.30 per litre and by Rs.1.17 a litre on diesel to make use of slump in oil prices to garner an additional Rs.2,500 crore. Basic excise duty on unbranded petrol has been increased from Rs.7.06 per litre to Rs.7.36 and the same on unbranded diesel from Rs.4.66 to Rs.5.83 per litre. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the increase in duty will yield an additional Rs.2,500 crore in revenue during the remainder of the 2015-16 fiscal which ends on March 31, 2016.

Mining has been banned in six of Kerala´s rivers for three years based on the sand mining audit, which reported that there was not enough sand deposits in these rivers and further mining could lead to environmental degradation.
