Public sector banks in India are staring at humongous piles of bad debts, delinquent loans are rising unabated. Ballooning bad debts have caused 10 Indian state-owned banks to report losses of a whopping Rs.153 billion for the March, 2016 quarter. India Ratings, a Fitch associate, estimates that 21 per cent of the total bank credit is stressed.

Karnataka gets Rs 74.09 cr for renewable energy projects
In Karnataka, so far, 2,170 mw of wind, 988 mw of small hydro, 491 mw of bio-mass, 14 mw of solar and 1 mw of waste to energy power projects have been set up, said the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in Rajya Sabha on August 26.

MMRDA's waste to energy plant to generate 30 mw
From its Rs 300-crore worth 'waste to energy' project Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to generate 30 mw of power. The contract for the ambitious project will be awarded to a consortium of Ramky Enviro Engineers and Chinese firm Chongqing Sanfeng Environmental Industry Group this week, MMRDA Commissioner UPS Madan said in Mumbai last week.
