Narora atomic plant can withstand quakes: NPCIL

With Japan's deadly quake raising questions over safety of nuclear reactors worldwide, the state-run nuclear operator NPCIL allayed any fears with regard to the Narora atomic power station which is located in seismic zone IV in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.

Tarapur nuclear plant applies for licence renewal

The Tarapur atomic power station, the country's largest nuclear plant, has applied to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for renewal of its licence, days after the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan suffered damage following the quake and tsunami, leading to radiation leaks.
