Crude likely to stay below $100/bbl

Brent crude has gone below $100 a barrel for the first time in two years. Analysts believe crude oil prices should remain soft through the year, as the International Energy Agency has cut global oil consumption estimate from 1.3 million barrels per day in January to 0.9 million barrels per day at present
India to become biggest importer of coal by 2035

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), India would become the largest importer of coal and the second largest importer of oil after China by 2035. Maria van der Hoeven, the head of IEA, said, "When we look at India we see that in 2035, India will be the biggest importer of coal, will be 2nd (largest) importer of oil next to China and will be number four in importing gas after European Union, China and Japan.
The immediate need of the hour is to increase coal production and off-take as well

Rising demand of coal due to power generation capacity addition in the country has alarmed the private as well as government bodies to ensure coal availability. Around 78% of our entire coal off-take is catered to power utilities in the country. India has an installed power generation capacity of 207,876 MW and plans to add around 88,573 MW during XII Five Year Plan (2011-12 to 2016-17).

Oil futures decline on subdued economic condition

At the international market, crude oil prices declined in recent sessions because of expectation that the world economic condition may reduce oil consumption.Recently, the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) or the light sweet crude for December delivery traded around $85.68 a barrel. Brent North Sea crude for December delivery traded around $109.09 a barrel.Also, the report by International Energy Agency, exerted downward pressure on oil prices.
