REC, T-Hub join hands to produce renewable energy projects
The Rural Electrification Corporation’s REC Foundation and tech start-up incubator T-Hub have come together to roll out a programme to help 1,800 young college innovators in the two Telugu-speaking states to produce 600 projects focused on renewable energy.

No clear roadmap
The outlook for thermal power generation market is not negative as India is still hugely underserved on electricity. The current limbo is caused by a sudden addition of about 100 GW in a five year period, driven by a policy of coal block allocation i.e., a rush encouraged by the premium from fuel shortages.

Hartek Power bags over 1 GW solar grid EPC projects in 2016-17
Having exceeded its target of connecting 500 MW solar projects to the grid, Hartek Power, has bagged 1,025 MW solar grid EPC orders in 2016-17, thus registering a phenomenal increase of 733 per cent, as compared to the company’s order size in the previous year when it had secured just 123 MW orders.

11,931 villages electrified under DDUGJY
Out of 18,452 un-electrified villages, 11,931 villages have been electrified as on January 30, 2017 under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). This was stated by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
