All states will implement GST by July 2017. The Constitution Amendment Bill for Goods and Services Tax has been approved by the President of India post its approval in Parliament (Rajya Sabha on August 03, 2016 and Lok Sabha on August 08, 2016) and ratification by more than 50 per cent of state legislatures.
GST | Power sector is safe
After a decade of political stand-off, the government was able to garner a consensus in Rajya Sabha, to approve the Goods and Services Tax (GST) constitutional amendment bill in August 2016. Since the parliamentary assent for the bill, which has the potential to turn the whole country into a single ´common market´, things have picked up momentum to make GST a reality at the earliest, though many experts feel that the deadline of April 1, 207 is a challenge.
Imports of solar cells and modules on the upswing
Imports of solar cells and modules are on the rise, with in-bound shipments surging over three times to Rs.15,523 crore in 2015-16 from Rs.5,051 crore in 2014-15, Parliament was informed.

Rs.90,841 cr invested in renewable energy
An investment of Rs.90,841.16 crore has been made in the renewable energy sector in the country during three fiscals to 2015-16, government said. Total investment made in renewable energy sector in all states, including Jharkhand and Gujarat, during the last three years is Rs.90,841.16 crore, New And Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
GAIL told to deposit RIL gas profit into govt kitty
The government has ordered state-run gas utility Gail to deposit the difference between old and new price of gas from Reliance Industries Ltd´s KG-D6 field into the exchequer every month with a view to recovering profit share the Centre claims is due from India´s largest private oil company.
