Rs.22 cr spent on Smart
Grid projects Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal And New and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal stated in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha that an expenditure of Rs.21.73 crore has been incurred for development of four Smart Grid pilot projects and one Smart City Pilot project during 2015-16.

Power Ministry electrifies 56 villages in Jharkhand
The Ministry of Power (MoP) has electrified 56 villages in Jharkhand last week. The villages belong to various districts of Deoghar, Paschimi Singhbhum, Purbi Singhbhum, Palamu, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Kodarma, Bokaro, Chatra, Ramgarh, Dhanbad and Giridih. Announcing the same, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, tweeted, "Electrified 56 villages in Jharkhand last week. Finally, people of these villages can avail the benefits of power."

AP releases its solar and wind power policies
