After the start of the Lakhwar and Vyasi hydroelectric power projects in Uttarakhand, the Uttarakhand government has now shifted focus to launching the 660-MW multi-purpose Kishau dam project.The Rs 7,193 crore worth project will be built on river Tonks. Besides the 619 mcm of drinking water, the project would generate water to irrigate 97,076 hectare land. The project, which was handed over to UJVNL in 2011, was delayed as HP and Uttarakhand were at loggerheads over the water-sharing issue.
