FDI Initiatives And their Attractiveness
The future of India´s renewable energy story, as highlighted by the current government, is ´moving from megawatt to gigawatt´. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has pronounced a target of 175 GW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2022 (as on 30 April 2016, the figure stands at 43 GW).

State power discoms outstanding dues rise 16 per cent
Outstanding dues of state utilities payable to central generating power stations have increased 16 per cent in the last one year, touching Rs.22,200 crore. This is despite about 18 states agreeing to join Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) and eight states issuing bonds of about Rs.1 lakh crore recently.

1.10 lakh smart meters sanctioned under IPDS till March 16
About 1.10 lakhs smart meters have been sanctioned under Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) till March 2016, as stated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal And New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
