Centre needs Rs 1,200-cr for discom debt rejig
For the task of restructuring the debt of the State power distribution companies country-wide, the Union Power Ministry will seek financial support of Rs 1,200 crore from the Ministry of Finance, for 2013-14, sources said. A budgetary support of Rs 1,200 crore has been asked for (in the budget) for the financial restructuring package of the discoms, the sources told a leading news agency.

Haryana eager to get GOI's package for its power distribution
To avail the Union government proposed bailout package for restructuring the ailing power distribution utilities, the Haryana Power Distribution Utilities (Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam) is expeditiously working on its plans. Talking to a business newspaper, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Utilities Devinder Singh said that short-term liabilities of the Haryana discom as on March 31, 2012 stood at Rs 18,000 crore.
