DERC for CAG audit of private discoms in Delhi
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on July 28 said there should be a thorough scrutiny of finances of all three private power distribution companies by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). DERC's statement comes two days after it announcing a five per cent hike in power tariff. Chairman of the city's power regulator PD Sudhakar said scrutiny of the accounts of the discoms by the CAG will help knowing the actual financial position of the private companies.

Stable outlook predicted for power sector
India Ratings on July 15 said that higher fuel costs and weak financial profiles of power distribution companies in India could pose major challenges to the sector. It maintained stable outlook for the power sector for the second half of the year. The agency expects the sector to get benefited from favourable tariff mechanism, comfortable liquidity and support from the central and State governments.

Power supply record in Haryana
In Haryana, power distribution companies supplied over 1,536 lakh units of power on June 24 and it is a new record of power supply in the state. The previous record of supply and load was of 1,528 lakh units and 7,188 mw on June 22, said, a government spokesman.

Gujarat to spend Rs 1,500 cr to improve power distribution
To cut power transmission losses and strengthen its power distribution and infrastructure, Gujarat government will invest around Rs 1,500 crore in the next three years. The State aims to bring down transmission and distribution (T&D) losses to 15 per cent, DJ Pandian, Principal Secretary (Energy), government of Gujarat said.
