GSPC firms to sell piped gas in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Thane
State-run gas distribution firms, Gujarat Gas Company Ltd (GGCL) and GSPC Gas Company Ltd, (part of the GSPC Group), have received authorisation from market regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to set up networks at Thane in Maharashtra and the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, respectively.
Natural gas shortage hits pipeline projects
The government is set to issue show-cause notices to PSU energy companies IOC, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL (India) and GSPL, asking why the three inter-state pipeline projects they had bagged - two in 2010 and one in 2011- to build and operate the three gas pipelines with a combined length of 5,000-km under competitive bidding, with estimated investments of about Rs 20,000 crore, can´t be cancelled for lack of progress on the ground.
46 districts to see city gas rollout in 2015-16
In a move that would give 46 new districts in the country gas distribution networks in 2015-16, downstream regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has started the fifth round of bidding for city gas distribution in 20 districts across Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
VAT exemption to LNG a boon to industry
The announcement in the Budget to exempt Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from value added tax (VAT) for a year will provide the much required relief to a fledgling industry based on natural gas.
