Farmers to pay only 10% cost of solar pumps under Budget scheme
The country’s farmers are likely to witness government’s generosity owing to the schemes announced in Budget 2018. According to Power Minister R K Singh, the Indian farmer will effectively bear only 10 per cent of cost for solarising his agricultural pump under a scheme unveiled in the Budget 2018-19.
BEML’s windmill park dedicated to nation
BEML Limited, a Mini Ratna Category-1 Public Sector Company under the Ministry of Defence, has set for itself an unique goal of utilising 100 per cent renewable energy for its consumption. In this endeavour, the company’s 9 MW windmill park installed at Dammur village in Bagalkot district of Karnataka was dedicated to the nation by Arun Jaitley through video-conferencing from Delhi.
Standard bid document for UMPPs to be approved
The cabinet is likely to approve a standard bid document for ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) based on domestic coal by next month, which will pave the way for investments of about Rs.1.5 trillion.

Doubling of coal cess welcomed by SPD
Solar power developers (SPD) have welcomed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley´s budget announcement of increasing the cess on coal from Rs.200 to Rs.400 per tonne, as it is likely to make solar power an even more competitive alternative.
