Coal shortage at Mettur’s 600 MW unit
One of the thermal units at Mettur generating 600 MW has been shut down as the coal scheduled to arrive from West Bengal and Odisha has been delayed due to the floods in the mines. Currently, the plan is to manage it with wind power and open market purchase as stopping a unit is just a precautionary measure, informs Vikram Kapur, Chairman, Tangedco

Spot power price hits high of Rs 12.95 a unit
Due to the festive demand and increase in dry weather consumption, the electricity price rose to a record of Rs 12.95 per unit, while its peak hour price soared to Rs 8.78 a unit in spot market.
