While Green Energy Corridor may enhance transmission grid to a greater extent, the evacuation issues faced by the renewable energy segment may not get fully resolved in the near future.

Paving the way for reliable, safe and efficient access to energy in northern India, GE announced the successful completion of the first phase of the two-phased Champa-Kurukshetra HVDC project.

In analysing the grid failure of 2012, it was observed that overloading and consequent tripping of 220 kV system had pushed the system to the edge. As is the case with most system failures, no single factor was responsible for the grid disturbance.

GE Energy Connections announced that it has successfully transmitted 1,500 MW of power for phase 1 of the Champa UHVDC project. Led by Power Grid Corporation of India, Ltd (PGCIL) the project will connect reliable, safe, and efficient energy to an estimated 46 per cent of India’s population.
