7,000 households get electricity for the first time

Thanks to the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, the tribal hamlets of Bhadradi Kothagudem district of Telangana will be getting electrical connections. These households were earlier getting electric connections at a cost of Rs 1,620. However, they will now be getting it at Rs 125. Besides an electrical connection with 50 units free, they will be getting an electrical bulb, a metre and required cable. The scheme has received 10,800 applications from individual households in the district and for about 7,000 households, it is for the first time that their houses are being lit. Most of them belong to BPL families. The scheme has come as a great relief for those who were deprived of electricity because they couldn't afford it.
